Detection dogs. Service dogs. Rescue pit bulls nobody wanted. Then dogs like yours.
Meet Joe, the dog trainer.
Let me get the resume out of the way…because I know it is the first thing you came to check. Twenty-two years training dogs. Air Force explosive detection handler. ADA certified service dog trainer. VA certified PTSD service dog trainer.
A degree in education from Bowling Green State University, and 12 years (and counting) standing in front of a classroom teaching. 200 + five-star reviews. Good. That is the part that makes you trust me on paper. Now let me tell you the part that actually changes things for you and your dog.
It started with detection dogs.
I got my start in the Air Force. Six years, security police, training explosive detection dogs. The kind of work where the dog has to be right every single time, and where the training truly never stops.
That is where it clicked for me. A dog who ignores you and a dog who watches your every move are the same dog. The only thing that changed is the trust between you.
And one more thing that matters more than all of them.
Loyalty. The real kind. The kind that is built, not bought.
That is where the whole idea started. A dog will meet you exactly as far as you are willing to build the relationship. Most people stop way too soon.
Then came the dogs nobody wanted.
When I got out, I went straight to the rescues and the SPCA and asked for the hard cases.
The "unadoptable" ones. Serious human aggression. Serious dog aggression. Dogs that had run out of second chances.
A lot of them were pit bulls and powerful breeds, and I have loved those dogs ever since. My job was simple to say and hard to do: get a dog that everyone had given up on back to a place where a family could love it.
So here is what I need you to hear, wherever your dog is right now.
Your dog is not too far gone. Your dog is not a lost cause. Your dog is not the worst I have seen (not even close). I have watched "unadoptable" turn into "admired" more times than I can count. Whatever your dog is doing at the front door or on the leash, I have seen worse, and worse turned out just fine.
And then, the dogs that change a life.
These days I also train service dogs for veterans and everyday people living with PTSD.
One of them belongs to my client Heather. Her service dog is named Chara.
Heather wrote this after a hard day: she was angry, anxious, ready to blow her lid, and Chara walked over, nudged her, and laid her head on her shoulder. The dog knew she needed it.
I helped build that.
I tell you this not to impress you. I tell you because of what it means for your dog. If I can teach a dog to pull someone out of a flashback, I can absolutely teach yours to stop losing its mind the second the doorbell rings.
Same principles. Same patience. Different problem.
The part no one ever tells you.
I do not just train the dog. I train you. In your own home, on your own street, with your own doorbell and your own guests and the exact spot on the walk where everything falls apart. Without the worry that progress will vanish once your dog comes home. And without guessing how your dog was actually treated at a board-and-train facility.
The Part That No One Tells You
Which one sounds like you?
“We just brought home a puppy and I want to start this right.”
Wonderful. Starting clean is the easiest work I do, and the most fun.
"We have tried a few things, and the walk still feels like a fight."
I hear this every week, and your walks are very fixable. You are not alone.
“Honestly, I am a little scared it is too late for us."
It is not. I promise you it is not, and I will show you why on the first call.
Wherever you are with your dog, we’ll figure out what’s next.
And here’s what you’re actually choosing.
Not a franchise. Not a facility that hands your dog back to you like a stranger. One person with 22 years of dog training experience who still stands in front of a classroom every week.
That last part matters more than it sounds. Teaching people is my actual day job. When I show up at your home, I am not just training your dog. I am teaching you in a way that still works long after I leave.
I will help you overcome any dog issue—including the everyday stuff like walking, jumping, and barking, and the harder stuff like aggression, anxiety, and lunging. Without wasting your time on methods that don't work.
And it all starts with a single conversation.
Talk to me.
No sales pitch. No quick fixes that disappear the second I leave. Just a free 20 min-call to tell me your dog’s story so we can start rewriting it.
No pressure. Just a conversation about your dog.
